There were many years when I practiced avg 6 hours per day. I am currently playing through the Alfred piano series with my teacher, so the hardest so far has been the end of the 1st book which is the entertainer. My ultimate goal is to play la campanella. Maybe that piece is just too distant for me right now. It's actually not the hardest Liszt etude - mostly it lies under a piano-pianissimo dynamic, so it's not a stamina issue playing it. If you only attack that piece it's very unlikely that you'll ever be able to play it at a decent level because of the tons of subtle things you'll miss along the way. It's got some fast notes and some difficult repeated note thingys where you have to jump down an octave, but besides that... Really not to hard. I don't know how to describe this very well in words but if you play ragtime long enough you should be able to begin to feel it. There are two celebrated piano versions. Really fine players of ragtime are still rare, especially among those trained on nothing but classical music.
