Overall I’d recommend staying in air guard or going Warrant, but I’m not an actual army pilot so take what I say with a grain of salt.
If you want to just show up, fly, and leave, I recommend warrant. I’m a mechanic so I know a few pilots so I can give some insight. You will probably be doing something guard related every week (for officership and flying) in order to maintain minimums. So the box is checked there. Generally you will get either a TH-67A or LUH-72 for your trainer, and then move onto whatever your advanced airframe be whether that is UH60, CH47, C12, etc. BOLC depends but as a Guard flyer you are usually front loaded in classes, and your AD peers generally will have longer wait times for certain classes.
Location for current, potential, and veteran soldiers and airmen of the US National Guard. I've heard some great things about Guard aviation, but I have no way of validating any of it as I've never been to a Guard aviation unit, or seen the day-to-day work done in an aviation unit.
That being said, I fly way more than my active duty counterparts. My question is, what pre qualifications do I need to be a helicopter pilot? They'll have all the information. Generally, yes, warrants will fly more than you but that can always depend on units & being guard.
If I was halfway to completing the necessary credits, could that get me a guarantee?
You should generally have an idea on what your advanced airframe will be as if your state doesnt have Chinooks, you're not going to be flying them. I've already been working with my program to get changed from my FIST unit to an AV unit. But you get paid!

I'm currently leaning more Guard.
Check with one of your states warrant officer recruiters. The Army National Guard website is more or less useless when it comes to explaining the day-to-day work unfortunately.
Thank you, I'll put this information to good use. Do I need prior experience or any degree?
I'm an Army National Guard SMP cadet, former 13F - Forward Observer with three years time in service as an enlisted man(no deployments....so not really sure if that qualifies me as a man or a kid?). We get deployed often or activated by the state, moreso than other units in my opinion. I've made around $15-20k/year extra on just flying alone.
